HOT MESS: What On Earth Can We Do About Climate Change?

  • Nightingale Room, The Grand Central Pub 29-30 Surrey Street Brighton, BN1 3PA (map)

'A very funny, important, and only moderately terrifying, clarion call' - Adam Kay

You've probably noticed that we’re currently facing a global climate emergency. But why does the end of the world need to be so depressing? Environmental researcher, and stand-up comic, Matt Winning, aims to both lighten the mood and enlighten people who care about climate change - but aren't doing much about it. Matt will guide you through the main causes of climate change, what changes are needed, and what YOU can (and cannot) do about it - hopefully with a few laughs along the way!

DR. MATT WINNING

Matt is a stand-up comedian and expert environmental researcher. He has a PhD in climate change policy, with 16 years experience working on climate mitigation. He is currently a Lecturer at the UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources.

As well as performing climate change comedy shows at science & comedy festivals, Matt has presented a TEDx talk, BBC Radio 4’s Net Zero: A Very British Problem, the podcast ‘Operation Earth’ and co-hosted ‘Mark Watson & Matt Winning: Seriously, Though, The Planet’ on BBC Sounds.

Matt will also be signing copies of his book, ‘Hot Mess’, which will be available to purchase on the night.
This event will take place upstairs in The Nightingale Room at The Grand Central Pub, Brighton. Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair access at the venue.
